URBANA, Ill. (WICS/WCCU) — Crime Stoppers and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up for a new high tech way to boost crime-fighting efforts.
A kiosk will be placed at the Champaign County Courthouse in Urbana that will aim to bring more awareness to unsolved Crime Stoppers cases and much more.
Aside from the information on how to submit a tip, the Community Pro-Tektor Kiosk will display wanted subjects, Crime of the Week, public safety information, weather updates, amber alerts, and other announcements.
The sheriff’s office will be able to post information there as well.
“The Sheriff’s Office has a long history of working with both the community and with Champaign County Crime Stoppers to help solve crimes, and even prevent future crimes, through information gathering,” Sheriff Dustin Heuerman said. “With a large number of the public visiting the Champaign County Courthouse every day, this seems like a great opportunity to increase information-sharing with the public. This new kiosk helps us to do that!”
The first kiosk was placed on the Parkland College campus last year.
