School Safety Awareness Kiosk

The School Safety Awareness Kiosk is a multi-functional, real-time, networkable notification & messaging system.  It is designed to provide schools with a tool to instantly display emergency alerts to students and faculty.  The School Safety Kiosk System platform sets the standard for Schools across the country by enabling them to issue real-time notifications, alerts,  and warnings.  The kiosk system is an important everyday application of providing students with POSITIVE MESSAGING.

Students face many challenges and issues in today’s electronic society and communities need to be proactive in establishing a joint alliance with our youth, to make schools safer.

This state-of-the-art safety kiosk system is designed to be schools awareness & notification center/network, for issuing real-time messages from the Principal and/or Superintendent, alerts, school events, PSA’s, warnings and more; to parents, students & faculty to ensure a safer place to succeed.


The Community Pro-Tektor School Resource Kiosk can be configured to run three (3) scrolling screen display options:

  1. 3 – 1/3 Screen Campaigns
  2. 2/3 & 1/3 Screen Campaign
  3. Full Screen Campaign

The backend software allows the kiosk administrator(s) to select from various templates which can be used to create content.  These templates have areas to upload images in landscape or portrait orientation, text areas to enter text, and even video in mp4 format.

In addition to templates with pre-configured area that can be filled out, there are also several series of pre-made public service announcements that an administrator can just select and push out to their kiosk.

If an education unit wishes to create their own images for the kiosk, they have the ability to create an image file the size of the zone they are posting to and upload it to a blank image/video template.  These blanks are available for single, dual, and three zone campaigns.

The Goal

All children should grow up free from fear and violence. Fortunately, most of America’s children do. But there are far too many schools and neighborhoods where fear and violence are part of a child’s daily life. This is unacceptable, and the School Safety Act (Florida Senate Bill 7026), reflects a national goal of ensuring that all children live in safe neighborhoods and attend nurturing schools that provide them with the services and supports that they need to thrive.

Automatic Amber Alerts

These are automated from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  When an Amber alert is issued which targets your zip code, that amber alert will automatically start displaying on your kiosk.  The amber alert will take up two-thirds of the screen for 10 seconds at a time.  It will rotate in and out of your screen along with the rest of the campaigns on your kiosk so it will get the message across while still allowing your content to be displayed.

Weather/Public Notifications

Administrators have the option to add weather to the middle zone of the kiosk.  As this can use a considerable amount of bandwidth over a period of time, the administrator has the ability to turn this on and off based on their needs.  The weather shows a five day forecast, current date and time.

Evacuation maps and other public notifications can be uploaded and run on the kiosk as well.  These can be pre-loaded and available to run on a moment’s notice.

Third Party Integration

The Community Pro-Tektor software has the ability to accept notifications from any third party application. This is not limited to applications with an API.  If you can register for notifications using a specified email address provided by The Community Pro-Tektor system, the software will accept the emails and convert them into announcements for display on the kiosks.

Social Media Integration

If your organization is like many others, you are entering data into several places each time you have information to get out to the public.  The Community Pro-Tektor Software will help make this task easier with it’s social media integration tools.  Create your campaign in our system and then select which additional avenues you want the information published to (Facebook, twitter, Etc) and it will be sent automatically to those services.  In reverse, you can make a post to a third party server such as facebook and the kiosk software will import that post and automatically customize it to run on the kiosks.

Kiosk Assignments

The backend website control panel gives the agency the ability to create groups for their kiosks.  Each kiosk can then be dropped into a group for campaign assignments.  Once campaigns are created they can be assigned to either a group containing kiosks or to specific kiosks.  This gives the agency the ability to target a campaign to a specific area or kiosk.

Emergency Broadcast

We all hope that there is never going to be a situation where a childs life may be at stake.  The Pro-Tektor School Resource Kiosk gives our customers an extremely quick way to get a message out to students and staff in the event of a life threatening emergency.  Each kiosk can hold up to 2 emergency messages.  With a press of our emergency button, the kiosk will automatically switch over to the message your need to display.  These messages are stored on the kiosk themselves rather than the server so instead of waiting for a message to download and cycle through, these messages come up within a few seconds of pressing the button and they stay on the kiosk until you press the cancel button.  Examples of these messages can be an active shooter warning or tornado warning.

Secure communications

The Community Pro-Tektor kiosks talk to our secure server through a Verizon secure VPN Connection.  What this means in plain English is that your kiosk has a Verizon modem in it with an IP address that is not publically accessible through the internet.  The only possible way to communicate with the modem is through the VPN Router that is in our secure data center.

In the event Verizon is not available in your coverage area, other carrier options may be available.

24/7 Support

Other companies may tell you if your kiosk were to go down at 2am no one would notice. We give you a live tech support person to talk to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.  Just like law enforcement, we are always just a call away.

Proprietary Software

The Community Pro-Tektor Kiosk Information System is not “off the shelf” software with limited capabilities.  Our software is written from the first line of code up.  If there is a specific functionality that your agency needs, our programmers can write that into the software for you.

Our kiosk software runs on the Linux operating system to add system stability to the kiosks.  This means less downtime and more public visibility.  Each kiosk can also be accessed remotely from our tech support team to trouble shoot issues and reduce the time your kiosk would be out of the field.


Whenever a new campaign is assigned to your agency’s web portal, a copy of the campaign is emailed automatically to users who are assigned to be notified.
